This would be a great improvement. For one my P990 can't open the GMX as it stands :(
But a really simple design, deprecating lot's of features probably, would not only solve the mobile phone problem (making it accessible in almost every single mobile phone) but with some minor comms and AJAX tweaking in the actual GMX webmail, would eliminate, in my POV, the need for a intermediary lite version.

Accessing gmx mail through a mobile browser is a key feature absent from gmx. Personally, it is the biggest obstacle to adopting gmx as my primary non-work email account.
