Bruno Fernandes calls for Manchester United improvement

Bruno Fernandes does not feel that Manchester United have enough quality to win trophies at present.

The Portuguese midfielder has been a talismanic figure since arriving at Old Trafford last year but the Europa League represents United's last hope of silverware this season and Fernandes believes that the team must improve to compete for the biggest prizes.

He told talkSPORT: "The improvement you have to see game by game not season by season. For us, it is improving as a team.

"Of course we want to win trophies, we want to win everything we are included in. At the moment, we are not at that level this season."

United have lost a number of games at Old Trafford this season and Fernandes has called on them to match their results away from home, where they have not lost for over a year in the Premier League.

He said: "We have lost a lot of games. We have lost games we don’t expect to lose and have lost a lot of points at home and away our form is really, really different.

"I don’t remember if we have lost one game away. We are improving and this season is not finished and we have a lot to do until the end of the season."

United sit way behind local rivals Manchester City in the Premier League table but the playmaker insists that the Red Devils won't give up hope until it is mathematically impossible for them to claim the title.

Fernandes said: "Until it is not mathematically possible, you have to believe so when I see it is not possible to catch City, I will forget the league."
