The Mexican fighter has suggested that he would be up for a bout against the social media star, who has caused a stir in the sport of boxing since his debut in the ring two years ago.
Canelo told FightHype.com: "We don’t know.
"We don’t know. We never say no. We don’t know. He can try and keep…fighting and learning. We’ll see in the future."
Canelo admits that he isn't concerned about Paul's fighting ability and suggests that the Youtube star will need to improve a lot before he could match him in a fight.
Asked what Paul could improve on, Canelo joked: "Lots of things. Lots of things."
Canelo also suggested that Paul's involvement in the sport is a positive thing despite the criticism it has received from some boxing fans.
He said: "I’m not going to say I don’t like or I like. Everybody has his [own] personality. So it’s good."
Canelo is set for a unification bout against Caleb Plant next month and is confident that he is superior to his opponent in the super-middleweight title fight.
He told ES News: "It’s a different level. I don’t know what level (Plant is at), but it’s not my level, that’s for sure. We’ll see November 6th."
