Andy Ruiz Jr. up for Deontay Wilder fight

Andy Ruiz Jr. is open to fighting Deontay Wilder.

The former heavyweight world champion admits that he would be up for a bout against the American, who was recently beaten by Tyson Fury in the pair's trilogy fight, and thinks it would be an "amazing" battle for boxing fans.

Ruiz told The Last Stand with Brian Custer: "I think that would be an amazing fight.

"We’re both part of the same team [with Al Haymon’s Premier Boxing Champions], and it’s all business. I wouldn’t mind getting in the ring with him, and I feel I could beat him. We got to get it on."

Ruiz was impressed with Wilder's display in defeat against Fury last month and felt it was a brilliant heavyweight contest.

He said: "I thought that was an awesome fight. They were going back and forth, and I didn’t know who was going to win.

"Deontay, he has the heart of a lion. He doesn’t want to give up, and he kept coming. He kept getting up, falling down, and getting up. It wasn’t an amazing fight. Hats off to Tyson Fury. He did his thing."

Ruiz - who famously defeated Anthony Joshua back in 2019 - believes that The Gypsy King is currently the dominant force in the heavyweight division.

When asked if he thinks that Fury is the best heavyweight fighter in the world at the moment, Ruiz said: "I agree with that."
