Marcus Rashford will miss Manchester United's match against Sheriff Tirspol

Marcus Rashford will miss Manchester United's Europa League clash against Sheriff Tirspol.

The 24-year-old forward won't be involved in Thursday's (15.09.22) Group E match against the Moldovan side due to a muscle injury.

Manager Erik ten Hag said Rashford should be back "quite soon", and added: "I think this season he has had a great comeback.

"He has showed his great potential and quality."

He suffered the injury in United's last Premier League game against Arsenal, where he scored twice and set up another in the 3-1 win.

Last week, he was out of the Europa League loss to Real Sociedad.

Looking ahead to the Sheriff game, ten Hag added: "When you lose the first game, you have to win the second, so we know what our task is."

However, he also acknowledged that their opponents are more than capable, having caused an upset when they beat Real Madrid in the Champions League last season.

He said: "It's quite clear, they beat Real Madrid and Shakhtar [Donetsk], they are capable.

"We have to make it our game but we are conscious of that fact. They are a serious and decent opponent and we have to play our best for the win."
