Daniel Dubois will 'be the man' in Oleksandr Usyk fight

Daniel Dubois has declared that he will "be the man" against Oleksandr Usyk.

The fighter will bid to become Britain's first undisputed heavyweight world champion since Lennox Lewis in 1999 when he takes on the Ukrainian at Wembley Stadium on Saturday (19.07.25) night and is full of confidence ahead of the rematch.

Dubois told reporters: "Right now, I just want to get it on. I'm going to write my own script. I'm going to win these belts.

"I'm going to be the man.

"I've prepared right, I'm just a different level now. I'm going to do whatever I need to do on Saturday, I'm chasing glory and chasing greatness.

"This is history making. I've just got to do a real demolition job. I'm hungry and I'm ready for it."

The IBF titleholder also dismissed the claim that Mexican boxing legend Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez has put a $500,000 bet on Usyk to win the bout.

He said: "It means nothing to me. He's going to lose his money. I'm just focused now. Let's get it on."

Usyk, 38, beat Dubois when they first fought in 2023 and rubbished suggestions that his age could be a factor in the fight as he is 11 years older than his opponent.

He said: "I respect this young guy.

"He [Dubois] is motivated but I am too. I am not an old guy - 38 is not old. We will see."

Usyk also stressed that the fight means everything to him and war-torn Ukraine as he bids to preserve his undefeated record in the ring.

He said: "Every fight is important to me and my team.

"Now it's very important or my country, for soldiers who protect my country because it's a motivation for my people. It's very important for me."
