Ross Barkley suffers setback

Everton midfielder Ross Barkley could be facing a longer spell on the sidelines after picking up a hamstring injury in training.

Barkley has only just returned to training with the first-team after undergoing surgery to repair a groin injury, but it looks as though it could be a while longer before he is ready for Ronald Koeman's first team again.

The 23-year-old is said to have picked up the injury in training on Monday morning and is now waiting to learn the severity of the injury and how long it will keep him out for.

The news is a setback for Barkley as he looks to complete a move away from Goodison Park before the transfer deadline, as any interested party will be reluctant to splash out big money on someone who is injured.

Tottenham are known to be keen but Koeman says the Toffees have yet to receive any offers, and that is unlikely to change, at least until the full extent of the damage to Barkley's hamstring is revealed.
