The 22-year-old starred for Lazio in Serie A last season, and has continued where he left off in this campaign as the Rome outfit remain unbeaten.
Such form has alerted a number of clubs, including City and Manchester United, while the big clubs in Madrid and Milan are also keeping an eye on his form.
Former Chelsea star Mateja Kezman is his agent, and has confirmed there is plenty of interest in his client, although he was quick to point out he is also happy in Rome.
"There's been a lot of interest from several clubs, such as those in Madrid, Manchester and Milan," he said. "But he wants to be happy, to play to keep growing and become one of the best in his role.
"It's difficult to see him away from Lazio, where he has started the season very well, but I can't rule out him leaving."
