Dele Alli not worried over form

Dele Alli not worried over form

Dele Alli claims he is not worried about his form for Tottenham despite admitting he cannot always hit his own high standards.

The 21-year-old enjoyed a barnstorming first two seasons with Spurs, having been brought in from MK Dons in 2015.

Alli scored 10 Premier League goals in his debut campaign and followed it up with 18 last term while also becoming a regular in the England squad.

He has been backed to be one of the Three Lions' key men at next summer's World Cup in Russia but a lackluster start to this season has resulted in some criticism coming his way for the first time in his career.

But following four assists and a goal in the past two Premier League games, Alli feels he is rediscovering his best form for Mauricio Pochettino's side and is not too concerned.

"My form is not really something I think about too much but it's always nice to prove people wrong," he told the Daily Mail.

"At 21 years of age, when you set your standards as high as I did in the last two years, it's not always the case that you're going to be able to reach them all the time.

"Some people think if you're not scoring or assisting then you're playing badly but I criticize myself all the time. I always think I can do better, I can do more for the team so it's just about working on myself and my own game.

"People's opinions are changing all the time and you'd be more worried if the other fans liked you as a player. When your own fans start disliking you then it changes and you think about it a bit more."
