Cipriani named in England squad

Wasps fly-half Danny Cipriani has been named in England's 34-man squad for the tour of South Africa in June.

The 30-year-old has not been capped by England since 2015 but his performances in the Aviva Premiership have done enough to impress coach Eddie Jones.

Cipriani, who is set to leave Wasps at the end of the campaign, can now look forward to a tour with England.

Speaking about his inclusion, Jones told reporters: 'So I've picked him for the first time. I've watched him play closely and he deserves an opportunity. He's got to prove he's the best 10 in the squad, or the best 15.'

Owen Farrell has been named captain, with hooker Dylan Hartley unavailable as he recovers from the effects of concussion.

Jones has selected eight uncapped players, including Sale back Cameron Redpath, Wasps flanker Jack Willis and New Zealand-born flanker Brad Shields.

Experienced players such as Danny Care, Dan Cole and James Haskell have been rested while Saracens No.8 Billy Vunipola is recalled after an injury-hit 12 months.
