Double injury blow for Wales

Wales have suffered a double injury blow ahead of their summer tour as Aaron Shingler and Ashton Hewitt have withdrawn from the squad.

Flanker Shingler sustained a serious looking knee injury during Scarlets' Guinness Pro14 final defeat to Leinster on Saturday, while uncapped Hewitt suffered a shoulder problem during training with the national side on Thursday.

Cardiff Blues' Josh Turnbull has been drafted in as a replacement for Shingler, whose injury 'requires further assessment' according to the Welsh Rugby Union, although, as of yet, there has been nobody called up to replace Hewitt.

Cardiff Blues flanker Josh Navidi has already been ruled out of the tour with the shoulder injury he sustained during the Challenge Cup final earlier this month, while Shingler's Scarlets teammate, Scott Williams is also a doubt with a similar problem.

Wales will set off on their summer tour on Sunday with their first match against South Africa set to take place in Washington on Saturday before they begin a two-Test series against Argentina.
