Collins to stay with Blues

Blues full-back Michael Collins has dismissed reports linking him with a move to Scarlets and says he is staying in New Zealand.

Collins has only just penned a new one-year deal with the Blues but that has not stopped speculation suggesting he could sign for Scarlets, who he spent one season with in 2015-16.

However, Collins has moved quickly to dismiss the rumours.

"That's been blown a wee bit out of proportion," he said. "Being Wales and England qualified, it's always been an option to go back there and ply the trade. But I've just recommitted here for another year so that's the sole focus at the moment."

Collins has fond memories of his time with Scarlets but has no thoughts about returning.

"I love the people and culture there, and after that wee stint I probably looked at it more seriously," he added. "But I haven't had any talks with clubs over there and the sole focus is to try to turn this club around and hopefully help inflict a bit of change."
