Sissoko avoids FA action

Tottenham midfielder Moussa Sissoko has avoided any retrospective FA action for his apparent stamp on Newcastle's Kenedy.

Sissoko and Kenedy were involved in a set-to at St James' Park on Saturday after the Spurs man had fouled the on-loan winger, and it seemed as though he stood on the back of the Brazilian's leg.

The visitors went on to claim the points 2-1, with Jan Vertonghen and Dele Alli on target for the north Londoners but one of the main post-match talking points was whether Sissoko would be hauled over the coals for his alleged indiscretion.

However, it has now emerged that, although he received no punishment at the time from referee Mike Atkinson, the incident was spotted by the officials and therefore the France international can receive no sanction after the match.

Mauricio Pochettino's men are next in action against fellow capital outfit Fulham on Saturday and the Argentine tactician will therefore be able to call on the hard-working schemer to face the Cottagers at Wembley.
