Volkswagen predicts Norway to have 90 per cent electric car sales by 2021

Volkswagen predicts Norway will have 90% electric car sales by 2021.

The German automakers - who also owns Audi, Skoda and SEAT - not only anticipate that the majority of cars purchased will run on electric by next year, but they also believe it could be possible to stop diesel and petrol sales altogether by 2023.

Harald A. Moeller AS, the Norwegian importer of Volkswagen cars, said: “This allows us to be confident in saying we can hit 90% electric car sales next year.

“Customers will have access to an even greater selection of electric cars in most segments in 2021."

61.5% of new cars sold in Norway in September were powered by electric engines and Moeller AS had previously predicted that the country would be 60 per cent electric in 2020.
