WhatsApp update allows users to stop being added to annoying group chats

A new WhatsApp update gives users control over which group chats they want to be in.

The new feature was rolled out to all on Wednesday (06.11.19).

In a statement, the Facebook-owned app said: "Today, WhatsApp is introducing a new setting and invite system that will give users more control over the group messages they receive.

"This is a result of customer feedback telling us that people want more control over who can add them to groups, preventing unwanted messages including viral information that can spread through groups."

Before the update, anyone with a person's number was able to add them to a group.

Now you can select who you want to allow to add you.
