Spaniards want to travel domestically

Spain's residents are keen to travel domestically.

A study as part of SiteMinder's latest Changing Traveller Report shows that Spaniards are keen to visit more areas of their own country, with 90 per cent planning on travelling before the end of next year and nearly half of people planning to travel in the next three months.

Travel is seemingly being planned much nearer the time of travel, compared to before when people would prefer to book in advance.

Sara Padrosa, SiteMinder's country manager for Spain, said: "The people of Spain have always supported their country's travel and tourism industry, especially during these summer months. While we have seen international bookings increase gradually since the border was relaxed, we know that traveller numbers from what were previously top source markets, such as the UK and Germany, will be lower this year and for some time to come. Our study shows that, in spite of this, Spain's own are ready to help the local travel and tourism sector as it further reopens."
