Americans planning to catch up on missed vacation time this year

Americans are planning to catch up on their missed vacation time this year.

US residents are keen to take an extra five days holiday this year as they missed travelling in 2020, the new Vacation Deprivation study from Expedia has revealed.

Nearly a third (32 per cent) of people have vowed to travel more in the next year after not being able to head away the previous year, whilst a further 36 per cent of people are planning to take regular vacations this year after missing out in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Shiv Singh, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Brand Expedia, said: "The longer the pandemic, the larger the vacation bucket list and the greater the yearning to travel.

"Globally, 81 per cent of working adults are placing more value on vacation and 66 per cent of them have been inspired to create a bucket list. Whether it's inspiring memorable experiences to add to the bucket list, sharing helpful travel tips or spotlighting flexible deals, Expedia will be here to help travellers discover new destinations - smartly and confidently."
