A new study by Hertz has revealed that 80 per cent of people are keen to head across the United States later this year on a road trip, with 86 per cent admitting they are more likely to take a road trip this year than in previous years.
And over half (52 per cent) of the 1500 US residents surveyed revealed they were keen to travel as early as June, with domestic travel the clear favourite - as 74 per cent said they would stay in the United States. 42 per cent would visit the South, 32 per cent would head to the West and 24 per cent would go to the Northeast.
Family is important for those heading away, with nearly three quarters (71 per cent) saying a road trip wouldn't be complete without their spouse or other half.
Laura Smith, Hertz Senior Vice President, commented on the study: "Our data shows summer road trips are shaping up to be more popular than ever before in 2021 and just in time for National Road Trip day, which kicks off the summer road trip season. People are ready to get out and make new memories, and we're here to help them travel confidently with a safe, fast and easy rental experience."
