The Tottenham Hotspur forward has begun the season in excellent form and scored eight league goals so far but doesn't consider himself on a par with his peers.
In an interview with the Korean Football Association, Son said: "I've never once thought I am among the best players in the Premier League. Honestly, I’ve never thought that for a moment.
"I have always tried to do my best for Tottenham and in the national team and try to show all my abilities. It feels different to play for the national team and for Spurs. We will prepare well so that we can play as well as we can for the fans."
Son also opened up on his lethal partnership with Harry Kane at the Premier League side.
He said: "Kane and I have played together for a long time. It's common to try to develop [the partnership] at every moment. He is younger than me, but he always plays hard."
Spurs boss Jose Mourinho recently expressed confidence that the South Korean would commit his future to the north London club.
He said: "Son has three years of contract so it’s not like we are in an extreme situation of everybody being too worried.
"I think it’s more a question of Son loves it here and I believe that he would like to commit his future to the club for more time.
"It is the club, and everybody in the club, being totally in love for this player and for this boy and trying also to make him feel part of the furniture."
