Laura Pain's boxing inspiration

Laura Pain is inspired by Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua.

The 24-year-old super-flyweight thinks The Gypsy King is unbeatable and she admires his mental toughness, while she credits her “drive and motivation” to seeing the former heavyweight champion in action, though she can’t remember who his opponent was.

Asked her favourite all time fighter, she told Boxing News: “Tyson Fury. I think he’s such an inspiration.

“No one can beat him, his movement is amazing and his mental toughness is inspiring…

“An Anthony Joshua fight gave me a taste of what boxing was like.

“It gave me the drive and motivation.

“The O2 that night was mad.”

Laura was initially a kickboxer but found her skills weren’t as sharp.

She said: “I started boxing after kickboxing for many years.

“I was born with dislocated hips so wasn’t the best at kicking, so thought it would be best to stick to punching!”

And if she wasn’t a boxer, Laura had other sporting ambitions.

Discussing her alternative career paths, she said:” Probably a footballer.

“I played football for many years before I boxed.”
