Trent Alexander-Arnold confident in England's Euro chances

Trent Alexander-Arnold has insisted there’s “no reason why” England can’t win Euro 2024.

The Liverpool midfielder thinks the squad are “confident” about their chances of victory in this summer’s tournament but stressed that doesn’t mean they are arrogant.

He told FourFourTwo magazine: “Our chances are as good as any other nation’s.

“We’re a team that can go and win the tournament. If we play the way we know we can, we can beat any nation we come up against on our day.

“We’re confident, and I’d say humble as well. It’s not an arrogance. It’s not a cockiness. It’s a self confidence and a self-awareness of how good we are and how good we can be,.

“With the right time, the right tactics, the right set up, the right performances and the right gameplans, there’s no reason why we can’t come home with the trophy.”

And Trent believes one of the key players in England’s campaign will be 20-year-old Jude Bellingham, though he insisted the emphasis needs to be on playing as a team, not specific individuals.

He said: “For the people closest to him who saw him play at the World Cup and have been with him at England camps, it’s no surprise he’s performed how he has this season, with the mentality and ability he’s got.

“He’s going to be very important to England, now and in the future.

“If you take away the other 10 players and put Jude against 11, he’s going to get beat.

“He needs the team, we need him – he knows that and we know that. It’s a team game.

“It doesn’t matter how good one individual is, you need the team to pull through.

“You need the full squad, especially in tournament football…

“I’m a firm believer that the best team wins tournaments, not the best group of individuals.”
