Domenico Tedesco's Euro plan

Domenico Tedesco plans to take Belgium’s Euro 2024 campaign “step by step”.

The 38-year-old manager is focusing his attention on the side’s first game against Slovakia in the group stages, and will not be planning too far ahead.

He said: “We are focused on the first game against Slovakia. Step by step.

“We hope to have a good camp in June before we go to Germany.

“The work is done inside the clubs and for the rest we just have to select and structure the information we got from previous camps.

“I hope that the players will be healthy.”

And while Belgium are one of the favourites to win the competition, Domenico is aware that anything could happen.

He said: “On paper, we are the favourites, but I’ve been in football long enough to know that on paper doesn’t always translate to the field.

“Slovakia only had Portugal ahead of them in qualifying and only lost their two games against Portugal 1-0 and 3-2.

“Romania may not be the strong team of many years ago, but they won their group. So we’ll see.

“I saw Ukraine against Italy and they were close to beating them.

“They are a fantastic team with top players, playing at Chelsea, Arsenal and some still in Ukraine, like Heorhiy Sudakov, who will most probably make the next steps very soon to a big club.”
