Jamie Vardy determined to keep playing at the top level following Leicester exit

Jamie Vardy still believes he can play at the highest level as he prepares to leave Leicester.

The 38-year-old striker will play his final match for the Foxes in Sunday's (18.05.25) Premier League clash with Ipswich and has no intention of retiring from the game.

Asked if he doubts his ability to score goals at the top level, Vardy told Sky Sports: "No, but that's just me.

"Football is a crazy world. You never know what's going to happen.

"I'll keep going until my legs tell me I need to stop. My legs are fine.

"I'm doing a sport that I love, it's what I've done since I was a little kid so long may that continue."

Vardy has won the Premier League and FA Cup during a memorable 13-year career with Leicester but is refusing to get carried away in the fanfare surrounding his departure.

The former England international said: "You can speak to my family and they'll all say I'm emotionless. It might do at the end of the game or whatever, but until that happens, I'm literally just focused on the game.

"You don't get a chance to look back on it. It's all about seeing out the season with momentum to start next season."

Vardy explained that a personal highlight of his time with Leicester was breaking a Premier League record by scoring in 11 consecutive matches in 2015.

He recalled: "It was big time, right? The club had got (my family) to do, like, a mini-video montage. Wishing me luck and stuff like that. How they believed in me for the 11th game. And I actually watched it that morning (of the game).

"It was after that that I said to my family, to my wife, that I'm scoring tonight. It's that simple. Lo and behold, first shot, there it is."
