Simone Inzaghi leaves role as Inter Milan manager 'by mutual agreement'

Simone Inzaghi has left his position as Inter Milan manager.

The coach has stepped down as boss of the Serie A club "by mutual agreement" just days after they were thrashed 5-0 by PSG in the Champions League final.

Inzaghi, who has been strongly linked to the Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal, won six trophies and led Inter to two Champions League finals during his four-year tenure at the club.

He said: "The time has come for me to say goodbye to this club after a four-year journey, during which I gave everything. Every day, my first and last thought was always about Inter. It was then reciprocated with professionalism and passion by the players, leaders, and every single one of the club’s employees.

"The six trophies we won, including the Second-Star Scudetto, together with our Champions League journeys in 2023, and just a few days ago, are living proof of how much my work was supported by a shared understanding with my staff and every part of the club.

"I want to dedicate one last word to the millions of Nerazzurri fans who cheered me on, cried and suffered in difficult moments and laughed and celebrated in the six triumphs we experienced together.

"I will never forget you."

Confirmation of Inzaghi's exit came after a meeting between the manager and Inter officials on Tuesday (03.06.25).

A club statement read: "The club and Simone Inzaghi are parting ways. This is the decision taken by mutual agreement."

Inter president Giuseppe Marotta added: "I would like to thank Simone Inzaghi for the work done, for the passion shown and also for the sincerity in the discussion that led to the common decision to separate our paths.

"Only when we have fought together to achieve success day by day, can we have a frank dialogue like the one that happened."
