Martin Zubimendi always wanted to play in Premier League

Martin Zubimendi has always wanted to play in the Premier League.

The 26-year-old sportsman joined Arsenal from Real Sociedad in the summer and the Spaniard admitted he is relishing the chance to test himself in such a “challenging” league.

He told Arsenal’s official website: “It was always on my mind. I've always watched the Premier League. It's a very challenging league with top players and teams.

It was always on my mind, and now that I'm here, it's also a test for me to see how I can perform in this league.”

Although the transition to London has been made easier by joining Arsenal alongside fellow Spaniards Kepa Arrizabalaga and Cristhian Mosquera and reuniting with Mikel Merino and Martin Odegaard, Martin has found everyone at the club has made a huge effort to help him settle in.

He said: “Three of us Spanish players have joined this year, which makes things easier, but I don't want to focus just on the Spanish players. I'd like to learn English quickly and get to know everyone.

“I believe that everyone is making a genuine effort to help me naturally and without any fuss. I have to say that I'm really happy and it feels like I've been here longer than I actually have.”
