The Reds have suffered a torrid time of late with losses to the likes of Nottingham Forest, Manchester City, Crystal Palace and Brentford in the Premier League, and their disappointing run continued when Florian Wirtz had to rescue a point in a 1-1 draw at Anfield on Wednesday (03.12.25).
Speaking to BBC Match of the Day after the game, boss Slot said: "Far too many times this season we don't concede a lot of chances but the ones that we do go in. "We weren't lucky enough to get the win over the line but in recent weeks we would have lost this game so that is a positive.
"We are already 14 games in now and we haven't been able to score enough from open play or from set pieces."
Wirtz's 81st minute shot was deflected off Sunderland defended Nordi Mukiele and spared Liverpool's blushes.
He told Sky Sports after the game: "We wanted to win and we got the draw, so unlucky."
However, he insisted his and his teammates are "on a good way to come back" to better form.
He said: "I was very welcomed by the team. It is a very good team and I am very happy to be here. We are on a good way to come back and we are doing everything to come back and win games.
"We wanted the win today, we want to be on top of the table and we just have to keep working hard and hopefully things will change."
Liverpool are currently in 8th place on 22 points, just one ahead of Manchester United.
The Red Devils have a chance to leapfrog their rivals this evening (04.12.25) when they face 18th placed West Ham United, who are languishing in the relegation zone.
If United win, they would climb into fifth , four points off second-placed Manchester City.
