The manager delivered the blunt message after his injury-hit side drew 1-1 away at Leeds United in the Premier League on Sunday (01.04.26), as speculation continues to swirl around potential January departures.
Speaking to TNT Sports, he said: “United is one of the best clubs in the world. If you are here and focusing on a different club, then something is wrong with you.
“Just focus on the game and prepare with the players that we have.”
Amorim was speaking after a match in which United were forced to dig deep, missing several senior figures including captain Bruno Fernandes, 31, centre-back Harry Maguire, 32, and winger Amad Diallo, 23.
Leeds had taken the lead through Brenden Aaronson, 25, before Matheus Cunha, 26, levelled just three minutes later.
Cunha’s equalizer came almost immediately after Joshua Zirkzee, 24, was introduced from the bench, with the Dutch striker providing the assist during a brief but influential cameo.
Zirkzee has been linked with a loan-to-buy move to Roma, but Amorim was keen to highlight his contribution.
Amorim also praised striker Benjamin Sesko, 22, and midfielder Manuel Ugarte, 24, as he doubled down on his belief in the existing squad, having already suggested there would be little transfer activity this month.
The head coach said: “Not just him played, but Josh played well in the 20 minutes he played. Ben linked the play well today. Ugarte is showing that he has more to give, and I am really pleased.
“If these guys play well, we always have the chance to win the game.”
The United boss has also faced questions over the futures of younger players, including midfielder Kobbie Mainoo, 20, and teenagers Chido Obi-Martin, 18, and Harry Amass, also 18, but his focus remained firmly on performance levels.
He said: “I think we played well. I think we had more control in this game than we showed against Wolverhampton.
“That is important because it shows how you can prepare for this week with the mistakes that we learnt from the last game.”
Amorim felt United were unfortunate not to take all three points, despite conceding from a rare moment of transition.
He said: “We controlled Leeds, on the set-pieces, the second balls. They are really quick up front, but we controlled it well.
“We had our opportunities to win the game. We are losing games on the details - the Leeds goal, we are controlling the game and then one kick of the ball in transition control, but we managed to get back into the game.
“Last year it would be completely different. This year we are more in control of the games than we were last year. But we are frustrated not to win.”
