The Cat, 39, sent The Gypsy King, 37, into retirement with a second defeat in their December 2024 rematch, before the Brit later announced plans to return to the ring, and Usyk has now made clear that his interest in a trilogy bout would depend entirely on the stakes.
Speaking to Ready To Fight about a potential third fight with Fury, he said: “Why not, but only if it’s a fight for the undisputed status again.”
Usyk first met Fury in May 2024, edging a split decision to become the first undisputed heavyweight champion of the four-belt era.
Seven months later, with the WBC, WBA and WBO titles on the line, Usyk produced a more authoritative performance, winning by unanimous decision and prompting Fury to announce his retirement.
Since then, the heavyweight picture has shifted again, and Usyk went on to regain undisputed status by stopping Daniel Dubois, 28, in July 2025 to add the IBF belt to his collection, before later vacating the WBO title.
That belt is now held by British heavyweight Fabio Wardley, 31, who has himself been linked with a potential fight against Fury if the former champion follows through on his comeback plans.
Away from Fury, Usyk also spoke about fellow former rival Anthony Joshua, 36, following a recent conversation he had with AJ in the aftermath of a fatal car crash in Nigeria that claimed the lives of Joshua’s close friends Sina Ghami and Latif ‘Latz’ Ayodele.
Joshua was also involved in the incident, requiring hospital treatment before returning to the UK, little more than a week after defeating Jake Paul, 29, in Miami, Florida.
Reflecting on that conversation, Usyk suggested Joshua still has the motivation to continue boxing.
He said: “I’ve already spoken with him. I heard a desire to continue in his voice – for the friends he lost and for the chance to live that the Lord gave him.”
Usyk, who beat Joshua in heavyweight title fights in 2021 and 2022, added that personal loss has shaped his own mindset in the ring.
He said: “Once I spoke with the mother of my fallen comrade, and she told me: ‘Oleksandr, he would be very proud that you are continuing your work; he will watch you from heaven.’
“And he, I think, does that. And not just him, but all my loved ones who passed away defending our country. They are my guardian angels who help me in the ring.”
