Harry Kane pleased with Bayern Munich fighting spirit in PSG classic

Harry Kane was proud of the fighting spirit shown by Bayern Munich in their Champions League clash with PSG.

Bayern were beaten 5-4 by the European champions in a classic semi-final first leg on Tuesday (28.04.26) but the striker was pleased with the way his team fought back from 5-2 behind to give them real hope of overturning the deficit in next's week return leg.

Kane told Amazon Prime: "I think you saw two high-level teams out there. Especially in the attacking play, in the transition, the speed, the intensity, in the one-v-one battles. Two of the top teams going toe to toe.

"We had moments where we could have killed the game earlier on. We take a lot of pride in the fact that we got back to 5-4 because away from home, and being 5-2 down, could be a really tough place to be.

"But we fought and we clawed and we’re back in the tie."

The England captain hopes that home advantage can get Bayern "over the line" as they attempt to reach the Budapest showpiece next month.

Kane said: "As the game went on, we got better and better. They started to tire, so we’ll go to the Allianz Arena and try and bring the same intensity.

"There was a lot of moments out there and it’s probably going to be the same next week.

"So us being at home with the crowd behind us at the Allianz Arena, we hope that can push us over the line."

The match highlighted Bayern's awesome attacking threat, whilst also showcasing their defensive frailties, but manager Vincent Kompany has vowed to take the same approach in the second leg.

Asked what fans can expect in Bavaria next week, he said: "More. Even more.

"We are at home, we will have 75,000 people in that stadium. We don't want just noise. We need a mass (of sound) in the stadium. It is not a ground that is shy of successful moments with this team."
