The 26-year-old Nottingham Forest midfielder was left battered and bruised following a clash of heads with Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sanchez earlier this month and rather than despair over the painful-looking wound stetching from the top of his left eye to his nose, he thinks it gives him more "personality".
Asked what he thought when he saw himself in the mirror, he told Times Sport: “I thought to myself, ‘It’s a good job I’m a footballer, otherwise my missus might be leaving me…’
“No, I’m joking. She’s a good girl. I kind of liked it, to be fair. It gives me a bit more personality now.
“I’ve been a massive Harry Potter fan ever since I was a kid. So now I’m buzzing off it.”
Morgan feels "lucky" that his injury wasn't worse.
He said: “It’s healing really well and the doctor here has been incredible, but it was a scary moment when I looked down and saw all the blood.
"I actually felt fine in myself straight away and even in the days following had no headaches, but the specialist said if [the impact] had been around my eye and not full head-to-head it could have been really dangerous. I got lucky Sánchez came in at a certain angle and it was almost like a knife cut, a slice.”
Meanwhile, the 26-year-old midfielder is relishing "crazy" life at Nottingham Forest and is confident they can continue to build on their achievements over the last few seasons.
He said: “A crazy season. Another one. I feel like I’ve said this before in interviews, it wouldn’t be Nottingham Forest if it wasn’t this crazy.
“I want to win trophies and feel at Forest we can get there. We’ve reached the FA Cup semi-final, Europa League semi-final, finished sixth in the league, why can’t we go and do more?
“I feel with the right manager — who we have now [Vítor Pereira] — it’s definitely achievable. Because you have to be in the building here to understand the connection, the togetherness. Walking out at the City Ground as captain is a proper special feeling.”
