Sunderland close in on Lewis Grabban

Lewis Grabban is on the verge of leaving Bournemouth as Sunderland look to finalize a season-long loan deal for the striker.

Cherries boss Eddie Howe revealed on Monday that he expected Grabban to leave the Vitality Stadium this summer after the 29-year-old struggled to make an impact on the south coast since his return in 2016 and spent the second half of last season on loan at Reading.

Grabban headed to Wearside on Tuesday to finalize his switch to Sunderland and a deal, which will see him spend the entire 2017/18 campaign at the Stadium of Light, is expected to be completed on Wednesday.

Grabban was one of two Bournemouth players Sunderland boss Simon Grayson was reported to have his eye on with Max Gradel having also been a target.

However, the Ivory Coast international looks set to stay with the Cherries for the upcoming campaign having convinced Howe he is worth keeping on with his performances in pre-season.
