Benjamin Mendy poised for City bow

Benjamin Mendy is now fit and is set to make his Manchester City debut against Bournemouth this weekend.

The France international left-back has received the all-clear and is fully recovered from the minor thigh strain he picked up prior to his £52 million arrival from Monaco last month.

City insiders have stated the powerful 23-year-old has been able to train without any issues over the last five days and Pep Guardiola is now ready to throw him straight into the mix against the Cherries.

That could see Leroy Sane taken out of the firing line after being withdrawn with still 20 minutes remaining in Monday's 1-1 draw at home with Everton, having been asked to play in an unaccustomed wing-back role.

The 20-year-old Germany winger was targeted constantly by the Toffees but Guardiola knows Mendy is now ready and can solve the issue on his flaky left flank.

Mendy will take part in a short practice match on Thursday and be assessed the following day before City head down to the south coast for the Saturday lunchtime kick-off at the Vitality Stadium.
