David Wagner welcomes window changes

Huddersfield Town coach David Wagner has shown his support for the Premier League's decision to change the summer transfer window.

A new system will now be in place for the 2018-19 season, with the transfer window set to shut before the season starts.

Clubs battled for new signings until August 31 this year, but that could now be a thing of the past after the majority of clubs voted for a new format.

The Terriers did the majority of their business early on although they did complete the odd deal towards the end of August.

Speaking on the new system, Wagner says he believes the rules make it fairer for all the clubs in the top flight.

He told the Yorkshire Post: "You play the same opponent all the other teams play. But teams could buy or sell four players (on deadline day)."

Wagner is still finalizing his plans for Monday's clash with West Ham United and the German admits that the extra day's rest will boost his players.

"We are lucky that we play on Monday so I have no concerns about fitness (among his players returning from international duty)," he added.
