Colombian winger Izquierdo has made two substitute appearances since his club-record move from Club Brugge while Italian Schelotto is yet to appear following a deadline-day switch from Sporting Lisbon.
Defenders Gaetan Bong and Liam Rosenior as well as winger Jamie Murphy are among the other fringe players pushing for a start while youth team midfielders Jayson Molumby and Dessie Hutchinson are included in the squad.
Hughton is likely to start Molumby and Hutchinson in midfield, revealing he has a lack of alternatives for Brighton's second meeting with Bournemouth in the space of five days.
Hughton told The Argus: "Molumby is fit. We've got a couple in the squad, Molumby and Dessie Hutchinson.
"We don't have the natural options. Probably the more natural one from the first team squad would be Pascal Gross, who has played in that position on numerous occasions.
"Apart from that, with Sidwell and Kayal out, we don't have the natural central midfield players in what we regard as the first-team squad at the moment."
Hughton is said to be weighing up whether to start Glenn Murray against his old club to give Tomer Hemed a rest, but he has concerns over Murray's fitness following his return from an ankle injury.
Midfielders Steve Sidwell (back) and Baram Kayal (broken leg), and forwards Sam Baldock (calf) and Izzy Brown (hamstring) remain unavailable.
Provisional squad: Krul, Maenpaa, Ryan, Schelotto, Hunemeier, Bruno, Dunk, Duffy, Goldson, Rosenior, Suttner, Mateju, Bong, Ahannach, Molumby, Hutchinson, March, Stephens, Skalak, Propper, Knockaert, Izquierdo, Gross, Murphy, Murray, Hemed.
