Eagles consider Carlton Cole swoop

Crystal Palace are believed to be considering a surprise swoop for free agent Carlton Cole to fill the void left by Christian Benteke.

The Eagles are thought to be considering their options, with star forward Benteke ruled out for at least six weeks due to a knee injury picked up in the 5-0 defeat to Manchester City.

Former West Ham and Celtic striker Cole is currently without a club after he was axed by Indonesian outfit Persib Bandung earlier this year.

Manager Roy Hodgson is believed to be considering signing a forward to come in and 33-year-old Cole has been linked with a move to Selhurst Park.

Championship outfits Bolton Wanderers and Hull City are also thought to be interested in the former England international.
