Palace to step up Foxes striker Islam Slimani chase

Crystal Palace are believed to be leading the race for Islam Slimani should the striker secure a departure from Leicester.

New Foxes manager Claude Puel could be willing to allow Slimani to move on to pastures new in the transfer window and cash in on a player who has failed to hit the ground running in the East Midlands following his move from Sporting Lisbon.

As w revealed earlier in the week, reports coming out of the player's native Algeria have claimed the 29-year-old is unhappy with his bit-part role at the Foxes and was even considering a move away from Leicester over the summer.

It is no secret that Palace boss Roy Hodgson is looking to bolster his attacking options at Selhurst Park, with Palace only managing four goals in 11 outings in the Premier League this season.

The Eagles could be tempted to make a move for the unsettled Slimani in January although they will have to pay out around £22 million and reports suggest they would face competition from the likes of French Ligue 1 outfit Rennes.
