Seagulls told £15m fee for Aleksandar Mitrovic

Brighton are interested in Newcastle striker Aleksandar Mitrovic but may have to fork out £15million for the Serbian this month.

Reports say the Seagulls want Mitrovic as boss Chris Hughton looks to add to his striker options for the second half of the campaign although the Magpies' valuation of around £15million is proving to be a sticking a point so far.

Mitrovic, who has scored 17 goals in his two-and-a-half-year spell with Newcastle, has been out of favor under Rafa Benitez at St James' Park and has not made a Premier League start yet this season so, as long Brighton pay the required amount, a deal is likely to be agreed.

Negotiations are set to continue and Brighton will hope to land the 23-year-old in time for him to make his debut against Southampton in the Premier League next Wednesday.

Hughton has already signed Jurgen Locadia from PSV Eindhoven this month but knows a lack of goals has been a problem in the top flight and he wants more firepower, and he will hope Mitrovic provides it.
