Messi was at his magical best as he netted a brace in Barca's 4-2 victory over Tottenham in Europe's premier club competition on Wednesday and the Blaugrana look well placed to advance through to the knockout stages for the 15th successive season.
The 31-year-old has helped Barca to Champions League glory four times in the past, most recently in 2015, and he admits it is a priority to win the competition again this season, but that is equally true when it comes to La Liga and the Copa del Rey as well.
"The Champions League is the dessert for everyone, but to get it you have to be good in the league and cup," Messi told Movistar.
"You have to be good in the league to be well in the Champions League. We will not leave aside any competition.
"The Champions League is special but we will fight for the league and cup."
Barca's form domestically has not been spectacular of late, as they have gone three games without a win in La Liga, although they remain top of the standings ahead of their clash with Valencia at the Mestalla on Sunday.
