Google rolls out Gmail update include iPhone users' fresh look

Google is rolling out a big Gmail update, including a fresh look for iPhone users.

Some of the Gmail changes for Apple users, which will see their devices brought in line with Google's Material Design 3, include a rounded search bar at the top and pill-shaped buttons at the bottom of the application.

Gmail is also releasing improvements for Android devices, particularly tablets and foldable phones, with the inclusion of draggable dividers.

One of the biggest changes will be beneficial for iPhone and Android users, because Gemini's AI image generator is coming to Gmail.

Google explained: "Building upon the ability to generate images using Gemini in the side panel of Workspace apps on the web, we’re excited to announce you can now generate images in Gmail on your mobile device.

"Once you select the image, you can then save it, copy it, or insert it into a compose draft."

What's more, iPhone users will be able to create and modify birthdays in the Google Calendar via Apple's iOS.

This was introduced on Android devices last year, but Google is to follow suit for iPhones.
