DayZ Badlands expansion unveiled with 2026 release date

Bohemia Interactive has revealed DayZ Badlands - the game’s largest-ever official map.

DayZ Badlands was announced this week with confirmation of a 2026 launch. The new expansion introduces a sprawling 267 km² desert map set in the Nasdara province - west of Chernarus and bordering Takistan.

Bohemia said in a statement: “Explore the largest map for official DayZ – 267 km² of vast, desert-themed wasteland that’s located west of Chernarus and borders Takistan’s western frontier… This fully inland territory is a scarred battleground with stories to tell.”

Badlands will be the biggest map in DayZ history, offering cracked soil, sand-swept plains, mountains, and conflict-scarred ruins.

The desert biome introduces new survival elements: players must manage drought conditions, dehydration, and a harsher climate.

Expect region-specific cosmetics, firearms, and infected variants adjusted for the desert environment.

Bohemia hasn’t announced a precise release window—aside from “2026” - but the expansion aligns with the studio’s roadmap following last year’s Frostline update.

The expansion has been confirmed for “Xbox”, meaning Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One players will get the new content when it arrives next year.

DayZ is currently included in Xbox Game Pass, though Badlands likely will need to be purchased separately.

Further details on dynamic weather, vehicle support, and new gear are expected ahead of launch.
