Google introduces Google Skills to boost AI learning

Google has launched Google Skills, a new unified learning platform designed to help people and organizations master artificial intelligence and other in-demand digital skills.

The company says the initiative will offer nearly 3,000 courses, labs, and credentials, combining resources from Google Cloud, Google DeepMind, Grow with Google, and Google for Education into one hub.

Google Skills aims to address the global shortage of AI expertise by making advanced technical training more accessible.

Google said in a blog post: “Whether you’re a student just getting started, an experienced developer looking to certify your knowledge, or an executive learning to apply AI in your business, Google Skills brings everything together in one place.”

Learners can access content ranging from entry-level programs like AI Essentials to advanced courses such as DeepMind’s AI Research Foundations.

The platform also offers AI Boost Bites — 10-minute micro-courses designed for quick, focused learning — and new organisational tools like Future-Proof Your AI Learning Strategy, which helps businesses plan company-wide AI adoption.

To make the experience more engaging, Google has added gamified learning tools such as streak tracking and social achievements.

Users can earn skill badges, certificates, and professional certifications, while hands-on AI labs powered by Gemini Code Assist allow developers to practice real-world coding scenarios.

For employers, Google Skills is also positioned as a hiring solution.

The company’s skills-based hiring program, which already includes over 150 partner employers, connects trained graduates directly to companies like Jack Henry that use Google technology to fast-track certified candidates into jobs.

Many courses are free of charge, with Google Cloud customers gaining full access to the on-demand library.

Developers can receive 35 monthly credits for hands-on labs, while universities, non-profits, and government partners can access additional no-cost training via Google’s Career Launchpad programme.
