Announced during The Game Awards, the upcoming horror title will feature a dual-protagonist structure led by veteran agent Leon and newcomer Grace Ashcroft, an FBI analyst.
Capcom has said the pairing is designed to offer contrasting playstyles, with Grace anchoring more investigative, tension-driven sections while Leon brings a familiar emphasis on combat-focused survival horror.
Leon’s involvement had been widely rumored after leaked PlayStation Store artwork surfaced earlier this week, showing a visibly older and more weathered version of the character looming over Grace.
Capcom had previously declined to confirm his presence at the time, with producers suggesting Leon’s experience made him less suited to quieter horror sequences.
The official reveal clarifies that Requiem will instead lean into his strengths, while balancing them against Grace’s perspective.
Narratively, Resident Evil Requiem marks a return to Raccoon City and aims to bring together story threads that have run through the franchise for three decades.
Leon’s role is expected to be central to that effort, reconnecting the series with its origins while pushing toward a more conclusive arc.
Early trailers have already hinted at this link, including shots of the ruined Raccoon City Police Department where Leon began his career.
Capcom has confirmed a February 27, 2026 release date, with pre-orders now live for standard and Deluxe editions.
The latter includes additional downloadable content such as character costumes.
A dedicated Resident Evil Showcase is also planned for early 2026, where Capcom is expected to share extended gameplay and further story details.
