Travellers' 'love-hate' relationship with phones

Travellers have a "love-hate" relationship with their smartphones when they're away on holiday.

A survey by Travelport has found that 60 percent of users would feel lost without their digital devices whilst 43 percent like to be able to switch off from social media when they're on their holidays.

The report also revealed the world's first Digital Traveller Rankings, which saw India come out of top for being the country with the most digitally-advanced travellers. Worked out by the main indicators of digital usage for travel-related purposes, it was found that Indian residents use smartphones for booking and boarding planes the most, whilst 82 percent of people admitted to preferring digital boarding passes. India was swiftly followed by China, Indonesia and Brazil in the Digital Traveller Rankings.
