A survey by AA has revealed that the Queen track tops the list of the best song to listen to when you're on the road, followed closely behind by Bon Jovi's 'Livin' on a Prayer' and Neil Diamond's 'Sweet Caroline'. The classics continue to roll in with ABBA's 'Dancing Queen' and Journey's 'Don't Stop Believing' completing the top five. For younger passengers, 'Let It Go' from the hit animated movie 'Frozen' is a big hit whilst The Killers' 'Mr Brightside', Oasis' 'Wonderwall', Survivor's 'Eye of the Tiger' and Robbie Williams' 'Angels' also featuring.
The study also found that over 50 per cent of drivers admitted to driving past their destination so they can get to the end of their favourite song whilst 95 per cent said having music on in the background made their journey go faster. And 84 per cent also claim they would consider it to be "unbearable" without music.
Cheryl Calverley, Marketing Director at the AA, said: "Our research has shown that we're more likely to sing in the car than anywhere else, with group sing-a-longs forming special memories for 74 per cent of us. It's no coincidence that the favourite sing-a-long song, 'Bohemian Rhapsody', also featured in the famous car scene from the hit movie 'Wayne's World'. We hope that this sing-a-long playlist helps contribute to these experiences and show that car journeys can be as fun as the destination this holiday."
