Andy Murray says Jeff Bezos gets to space more quickly than Stefanos Tsitipas gets to the toilet

Andy Murray says Stefanos Tsitipas takes longer in the toilet than the time it takes Jeff Bezos to fly to space.

The 34-year-old British one number 1 was angered at the amount of time his Greek opponent spent taking toilet trips during their match at the US Open on Monday.

Murray subsequently said he'd "lost respect" for his opponent as a result of his actions.

The day after his defeat Murray took to social media to make a joke about Amazon owner Jeff Bezos' recent trip into space taking less time than Tsitipas took in the bathroom.

Murray wrote: "Fact of the day.

"It takes Stefanos Tsitipas twice as long to go to the bathroom as it takes Jef Bezos to fly to space.

Before Murray followed up his post with emojis of a toilet and a rocket.

Murray's tweet got 74,000 likes and 14,000 retweets making it one of his most popular social media posts of the year and prompted other tennis players to join in.

Germany's Alexander Zverev said: "Stefanos can play well - if he doesn't go to the moon and back for a toilet break, that will also help.

"I had to.

"I'm sorry."

While controversial Australian player Australian player Nick Kyrgios, who is a friend of Murray's, responded to an official US Open Instagram post confirming Tsitsipas had won his match

He wrote: "How many number twos does this guy take?"

While former British number one Laura Robson was pleased that Murray stuck to his guns after being so angry in the immeadiate aftermath of the loss.

She told BBC Radio 5 live: "I love that Andy went to sleep last night with emotions running high and has woken up this morning and doubled down on his opinion.

"He's not the first player to complain about this issue."
