Jurgen Klopp calls on Liverpool to show a 'reaction' against Ajax

Jurgen Klopp insists Liverpool have to show a "reaction" after their defeat against Napoli.

The German coach is preparing his side to face Ajax in the Champions League, but Klopp admits that an improved performance will not "guarantee a result".

Klopp, 55 - whose side lost 4-1 to Napoli last week - said: "We have to show a reaction, we know that."

The Liverpool boss pointed out that his side and Ajax enter the game in contrasting form.

He said: "Ajax are, I would say, in the opposite situation [to us]. They're again in a really massive rebuild but, no surprise, are doing a really good job."

Liverpool's most-recent Premier League game against Wolves was postponed due to the death of Queen Elizabeth.

But Klopp has rubbished the suggestion that the postponement might've knocked his side off their "rhythm".

He joked: "Which rhythm? We had no rhythm. Did you watch our game? Losing this rhythm would be really cool!"

Meanwhile, Klopp previously admitted that his side needed to reinvent themselves following their defeat in Naples.

The Champions League-winning coach has enjoyed impressive success at Anfield over recent years, but Klopp suggested that Liverpool may need to change their approach in order to win more trophies.

After the game in Italy, Klopp told reporters: "It looks like we have to reinvent ourselves. There is a lot of things lacking.

"We have Wolves on Saturday and they cannot stop laughing probably. They would say - and I would too - it is the perfect moment to play them [Liverpool]. We have to set up better in pretty much everything.

"In football there are always solutions. We don't play good enough, that is obvious and that is why we lose games. There is a job to do, my responsibility and I need time to think about it."
