The Manchester City striker will not be involved at the tournament in Qatar after Norway failed to qualify for the event and Haaland says he will make sure he is ready to go for the second half of the Premier League season.
The Premier League's top scorer said: "I wished I played in the World Cup of course, but that's the reality now (that) I don't do (that), but I will relax my body and my mind a lot and then I will train.
"What will I train on? Nothing special I think, it's been going quite well in my first months at City so I don't need to do so many changes to be honest.
"It's about preparing myself for the next half of the season and be ready when the next game kicks in after the break."
Norway have not qualified for the World Cup since 1998 and Haaland dreams of firing his nation to a major tournament.
He said: "The biggest thing we can do is to get to either a World Cup or a Euros. That of course if my goal with the national team to do. We know it's difficult, but hopefully in the future one day I'll be able to play there."
City manager Pep Guardiola revealed that he expects Haaland to have some relaxation in Spain during the World Cup.
He said: "I'm pretty sure he will love to be at the World Cup and maybe the next one or Euros he will.
"But he has a house in Marbella - go there, play golf, hopefully don't drink much, eat much and come back fit."
