The Spanish coach is the latest manager tasked with bringing Europe's top trophy to the French club but thinks that the desperation to win the tournament is a "bad sign".
Speaking ahead of PSG's group stage opener against Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday (19.09.23), Enrique said: "When a club is obsessed with something, it is never a good sign. You have to have ambition but obsession doesn’t work, that’s the same in all walks of life. We want to play, to give our supporters a lot of joy, but there is no obsession."
Enrique's new-look PSG team has made a mixed start to the campaign after the summer departures of Lionel Messi and Neymar but he has been impressed with the attitude of the players.
He said: "It’s true that we didn’t start the season extremely well. I find a very receptive team; they have a lot of desire and want to adopt the staff’s ideas. I am delighted with the players’ behaviour."
Enrique knows from his experiences with Barcelona and the Spanish national side that building a successful team takes time - a commodity that is rarely afforded in football.
He said: "I have already experienced this process, which requires time. Time is wonderful, but I’m not asking for it because I know how it works.
"I’m not worried about being given time. My work speaks for itself, and my way of working is clear to me. If the results are poor, we’ll see. I know this as a coach; I live it day by day."
