Jack Grealish determined to score more goals

Jack Grealish is determined to be more ruthless in front of goal.

The Manchester City star had a key role in the 3-0 Champions League win over Young Boys on Tuesday (07.11.23) but is determined to become a better finisher.

Grealish, who is yet to find the net this season, told TNT Sports: "I need to start scoring more goals.

"I know what I bring to the team aside from goals and assists, but every attacking player wants to score more. We won 3-0, but I think on another day it could have been five or six."

The England international set up a goal for Phil Foden and explained that it came as a result of manager Pep Guardiola's request for a direct approach against the Swiss side.

Grealish said: "As they were playing with a five, the manager asked us to hit the ball in that area straight away instead of passing it to each player because it obviously took longer.

"I wanted to get it straight out to Phil [Foden], let him go at the defender one-v-one and that's what he did."

The victory sealed City's spot in the last 16 with two matches to spare and Grealish underlined the importance of getting some rest in the team's demanding fixture schedule.

He said: "That's what we wanted to do [qualify with two games to spare].

"Every year we have so many games as a team. Obviously, we're not in the Carabao Cup now, but most of the time we're always in most of the competitions.

"So, to qualify with two games to spare is something that we wanted to do and that was our aim."
