Thomas Tuchel admits Bayern Munich will need good fortune to beat Real Madrid in Champions League

Thomas Tuchel admits that Bayern Munich will need to overcome the "aura" of Real Madrid in the Champions League.

The German giants host the Spanish titans in the first leg of their semi-final tie on Tuesday (30.04.24) and the coach thinks his side will need "luck" to be in their favour if they are to overcome Madrid and their illustrious history in the competition.

Tuchel told reporters: "You need luck, momentum, freedom, the whole package to overcome Real Madrid in the semi-finals.

"Right now we have a good mix between anticipation and tension.

"You can achieve a lot with tactics. The approach is the car, and the players have to drive it.

"We need to find a good balance and moments where we have the right solutions."

Bayern will have to stop Real midfielder Jude Bellingham from leaving his mark on the tie if they are to progress to the final and Tuchel insists that his team are "well aware" of the extraordinary" player and the danger he poses to opposing sides.

He said: "Jude is extraordinary.

"He was fantastic here in the Bundesliga, how he progressed shows the level of personality he has, it's only possible with a huge personality.

"Everyone who plays for Madrid plays with the pressure of the shirt. He plays with the pressure to play with this club and all the expectations.

"He handles it like he's never done anything else. But we are well aware of it and will try and find solutions."
